Lavender (Lavandula x intermedia)
While you may see lavender quite a bit in botanical skin care, you may not be able to identify all the reasons why. Lavender is a super-star throughout the ages in herbalism and skin care. Topically, lavender is cleansing, soothing, and regenerative. These qualities can be attributed to its volatile oil content, which includes linalyl acetate, linalool, and lavandulol, and alpha-caryophyllene. The name for lavender actually comes from the latin, lavare meaning “to wash”. Also renowned for its anti-depressant and aromatic qualities, lavender is quite a versatile herb. We choose to use a variety of lavender for our products to provide support for all skin types to mitigate effects of UV damage, reduce scarring, and assist in balancing the skin.
